In 2024 AIF tracked news of all music festivals that cancelled, postponed or announced they were coming to an end.

We found 78 events that fell in total. The primary reason was for economic conditions - with events citing the rise and terms in supply chain costs and ability to cashflow events. 76 of the 78 were independent festivals.

We found 36 events that cancelled. The primary reason was for economic conditions - with events citing the rise and terms in supply chain costs. This list is not exhaustive. There is not a comprehensive list of UK Music Festivals. This came from research conducted by AIF during Spring 2023. Without doubt, many more festivals will be forced to make 2024 their last stop if there isn't intervention now from the UK Govt.

Some temporary support - lowering VAT down from 20% to 5% on ticket sales for the next three years - is all that's needed to give them the space they need to recover and rebuild.
